A living tribute

A living legacy for the Oregon forests.

Honor someone special with a tree planted in Oregon’s forests. Your tribute supports reforestation in areas impacted by severe wildfire, including restoration efforts across the Fremont-Winema National Forest and the Klamath Basin, where new trees are helping bring damaged forest landscapes back to life. Create a living tribute while helping restore Oregon’s forests for generations to come.

The Planting Process

Replanting native conifers and restoring salmon, waterfowl, and endangered species habitats in a fire-impacted watershed in Southern Oregon.

01

Reforestation Standards

Every planting begins with a careful site assessment, followed by nursery and site preparation, professional planting of native seedlings, and GPS-based verification—creating a transparent record of where restoration takes place and allowing us to follow the forest as it grows.

02

GPS Tracking

All planting activity is geo-tagged and verified directly from the field, establishing a permanent digital record of restoration efforts. Field crews utilize high-precision GPS to document planting sessions, capturing comprehensive spatial data, planter trajectories, and verified visual evidence.

03

Long-term Monitoring

After planting, each restoration site is mapped and monitored over time using field data and technology to track survival, growth, and forest health—helping ensure restoration efforts remain accountable long after seedlings are in the ground.

The Native Seedlings Taking Root

Our new Oregon reforestation projects feature a diverse mix of five native tree species, selected to support healthy, resilient forests for generations to come. Plantings consist primarily of Ponderosa Pine and Lodgepole Pine, along with additional native species chosen to match the unique ecology and conditions of each restoration site.

Most trees are planted between March and August each year, with timing determined by local weather, soil conditions, elevation, and seasonal access.

  • Ponderosa Pine

A defining tree of Oregon’s dry forests, Ponderosa Pine develops deep roots and is well adapted to drought and periodic wildfire. As it matures, it provides important habitat, shade, and structure for wildlife.

  • Lodgepole Pine

A hardy pioneer species capable of establishing in disturbed and fire-affected landscapes. Lodgepole Pine helps quickly restore forest cover, stabilize soils, and create conditions that support the return of a more complex forest community.

  • Western Larch & White Fir

One of the West’s few deciduous conifers, Western Larch is highly fire-resistant once mature. Its deep roots, open canopy, and nutrient-rich fallen needles contribute to healthy soils and create habitat for birds and other forest wildlife.

A shade-tolerant conifer that adds important vertical and structural diversity to mixed forests. White Fir provides year-round cover, nesting habitat, and food for wildlife while helping create the layered canopy characteristic of a diverse, mature forest.

Bootleg Fire Reforestation

The Story, Purpose, and Impact Behind Your Living Tribute

The Klamath Falls Basin, a volcanic plateau of forests, wetlands, and river systems along the Oregon-California border, supports some of the Pacific Northwest's most significant biodiversity. The 2021 Bootleg Fire burned over 400,000 acres across this landscape, much of it within the Basin. This project re-establishes tree cover across the burn zone, stabilizing soils and improving water quality along the Klamath River as salmon return following the removal of 4 dams, one of the largest river restoration efforts in U.S. history.

Watch the critical first steps of a sapling's journey in the Oregon National Forests.

The Bootleg Fire broke out in southern Oregon on July 6th, 2021. Before being fully contained on August 15th, it burned 413,765 acres of forest, making it the third-largest fire in the history of Oregon. The fire was devastating for the trees and wildlife of Klamath Falls Basin. The basin is a hub for biodiversity, serving as one of the state’s top nesting areas for bald eagles. Widescale reforestation plans are already in motion. The return of this tree canopy will support a wide range of wildlife. Along with providing a home for birds, big game, and small mammals, this project will support one of the largest fish restoration projects in U.S. history. Four dams on the Klamath River are set to be removed in the coming years, opening up 420 miles of habitat for salmon, bull trout, and the endangered Lost River sucker fish. Trees planted in the basin will greatly improve the river’s water quality and help these species thrive well into the future.

The resilience of a forest begins with the quiet, steady growth of a single, well-tended tree seedling.

We provide this transparency because we believe you deserve to see the impact of your tribute. We confirm that your gift is not merely a gesture, but a durable addition to the Southern Oregon landscape that will stand as a monument for decades to come.
